Jack M. Balkin

(Book Editor, Co-Author of Civil Rights Chronology). Jack M. Balkin is Knight Professor of Constitutional Law and the First Amendment at Yale Law School. Professor Balkin received his Ph.D in philosophy from Cambridge University, and his A.B. and J.D. degrees from Harvard University. He served as a clerk for Judge Carolyn D. King of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and practiced as an attorney at Cravath, Swaine, and Moore in New York City before entering the legal academy. He has been a member of the law faculties at the University of Texas and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a visiting professor at Harvard University, the Buchman Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University and the University of London.

Professor Balkin is founder and director of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, an interdisciplinary center devoted to the study of law and the new information technologies. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) as well as a founding member of the Conference on Law, Culture, and the Humanities.

A prominent legal theorist and constitutional scholar, Professor Balkin’s work ranges over many different fields, from philosophy to politics, from theories of cultural evolution to legal and musical interpretation. His books include Cultural Software: A Theory of Ideology, Processes of Constitutional Decisionmaking (with Brest, Levinson and Amar), and Legal Canons (with Sanford Levinson). He lives in Branford, Connecticut.

Cristina M. Rodriguez

(Co-Author of Civil Rights Chronology). Cristina M. Rodriguez received her B.A. and J.D. degrees from Yale and a M. Litt from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar. She writes in the areas of civil rights and language policy. She is currently clerking for Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on the United States Supreme Court. She previously clerked for Judge David S. Tatel on the Circuit Court for the District of Columbia, and she has also been the Reginald F. Lewis fellow at Harvard Law School. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, she currently lives in Washington, D.C.

Pablo Aguero

(Website designer) Pablo Aguero is the Creative Director at Hanee Designs. Educated at Barcelona University, Pablo has been designing interactive sites since 1997 for clients in Barcelona, London and New York. His specializes in cross-browser web site design and usability.
